Art Woolis originally hails from Altoona, Pennsylvania. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 as a B-52 crew chief. As a crew chief, his duties included troubleshooting and maintaining aircraft structures, systems, and components. During his time in the United States Air Force, he served one tour in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970, where he flew on numerous bombing missions over Vietnam and Cambodia.
After he was discharged, Art relocated to the Bronx. A month after arriving back to the United States, he married his beautiful wife, Barbarra Woolis, and moved to Yonkers. Art went on to work for Sabrett Hog Dogs initially as a driver. After many years of hard work, he was promoted to the role of Sales Manager where he was able to land multiple accounts with various vendors in the New York City metro area. He finished the latter part of his career as a Sales Manager with Sara Lee Meats and retired in 2012.
Currently, Art resides in Lyndhurst, New Jersey and is an active member of various veteran organizations throughout Bergen County. He is one of the original founding members of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter #800 out of Little Ferry, New Jersey. He has served as the Scholarship Chairman for the organization and is an active participant with the VVA’s Color Guard Rifle Squad. Throughout the years, VVA Chapter #800 has been featured in numerous veteran events across the New York and New Jersey metro area. In addition, Art is an active member of VFW Post 809 out of Little Ferry, a member of the American Legion Post 139 in Lyndhurst, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) – Little Ferry Chapter. The DAV provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families.
He is married to his wife, Barbarra Woolis, for almost 50 years! He has 2 sons, William, 47, and Christopher, 42. He is blessed to have 5 healthy and strong grandchildren ranging from the ages of 8 to 15.
