Joseph E. Karpinski served as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate in the United States Navy from 1976 to 1980. He was honorably discharged from the Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class.

Joseph joined the Navy straight out of high school. He saw it as an opportunity to see the world and gain occupational skills. During his time in the Navy, Joseph took part in the Western Pacific Tour in 1979. As a result of this tour, Joseph visited the Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, and other locations in the Western Pacific. He also made a lifelong friend in Ed, who currently lives in England. Both Ed and Joseph still have their daily chats.

After his service, Joseph lived in San Diego and Oregon before coming back to his home state of New Jersey. For the last 30 years, Joseph has resided in Carlstadt. During the years, he has coached youth soccer and baseball.

Currently, Joseph works as a Health & Safety Specialist for Amazon. He is an active member of the Carlstadt VFW Post 3149 where he meets with fellow veterans twice a month to decide what organizations they will assist. He is an active member of the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge and serves as a County Committee Member for Carlstadt.

Joseph is very proud to call Bergen County home. He is extremely proud of his wife, a frontline health care professional, and his daughter, Amanda Karpinski, who is a dedicated public servant and has ran several times for public office in their hometown of Carlstadt.
