Sgt. Daniel E. Pettenger is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is November’s Bergen County Veteran of the Month!
Daniel served during the Global War on Terror from 2016-2021 in the Security Force Regiment (the anti-terrorism unit of the Marine Corps) and as an Infantry Rifleman.
Daniel served in the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines (3/2) stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. This Battalion is most recognized for its deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003) and Operation Enduring Freedom (2011).
Daniel was also stationed in Washington D.C. at Marine Barracks Washington, the oldest post in the Marine Corps. There he served in the White House Communications Agency, providing secure communication and international informational services to the president.
In 2019, Daniel received the Presidential Support Badge for his services to the president during his time at the White House Communications Agency.
Daniel married his wife, Jacqueline, in 2021, and now currently serves as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Bergen County Division of Veteran Services
The Division of Veterans Services was established in 1977 to provide resident veterans and their dependents with information and assistance in obtaining earned entitlements from federal, state, and local governments, as well as any that are available from the private sector.
Through a quarterly newsletter and direct client contact, the division provides Bergen’s veterans organizations and their auxiliaries and individual residents with up-to-date benefit information.
