Louis Spinelli, from Hackensack, currently serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and is March’s Bergen County Veteran of the Month!
Louis has been serving in the Coast Guard since 2017 and is a Marine Science Technician. Attached to Sector Delaware Bay (reservist), Louis designed a training program for the team of reservists, facilitating group study, one-on-one coaching, and interactive practical exercises, leading to job-specific qualifications. He earned Veteran status when deployed in support of COVID-19 response operations (2021); activated again in 2023 to the Personnel Service Center and assigned to the military records section. Currently, Louis is a teacher of Vocal Music at Bergen County Academies in Hackensack. He is grateful for his choral students who are given the opportunity by the County to provide special music for events in our community, such as Vicinage Law Day, Armed Forces Day, POW/MIA Remembrance Day, Women’s History Month, Italian-American Heritage Day, the Senior Citizen Picnic, and more! Louis led the B.C.A. Chamber Choir at the 2022 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu, HI, in a performance of the National Anthem.

Bergen County Division of Veteran Services
The Division of Veterans Services was established in 1977 to provide resident veterans and their dependents with information and assistance in obtaining earned entitlements from federal, state, and local governments, as well as any that are available from the private sector.
Through a quarterly newsletter and direct client contact, the division provides Bergen’s veterans organizations and their auxiliaries and individual residents with up-to-date benefit information.
