August “Augie” Caccavone served in the United States Army during the Second World War from 1944 to 1946 and is Bergen County’s Veteran of the Month for November!

Augie served in Europe with the 7th Army, survived 3 battles, and was awarded the Bronze Star with a Combat V for destroying two German machine guns. Augie also served in the Philippines and with the 8th Army in Japan.

Augie also fought and survived the Battle of the Bulge, considered one of the hardest fought and most dangerous battles fought by the United States during the war.

Augie recently turned 98 this year and is a living testament to the bravery and heroism not only from those who fought in WW2 but also all those through our nation’s history have taken the oath of service to protect the values that this country holds.

We thank you for your service!
